New BC Real Estate Association President and Board of Directors 
Jim Stewart Leads Provincial Real Estate Organization

Vancouver, BC – March 24, 2017. The British Columbia Real Estate Association (BCREA) is pleased to announce that Nanaimo REALTOR® Jim Stewart has been elected as its 2017-2018 President.

"I'm very pleased to be the BCREA President," says Jim Stewart. "In my years as a volunteer, I've met so many REALTORS® all around the province who proudly and diligently act in the best interests of their clients, and I feel privileged to lead our professional association."

Jim Stewart is an active REALTOR® with 460 Realty in Nanaimo and has been licensed for over 24 years. He was President of the Vancouver Island Real Estate Board (VIREB) in 2011 and has served for many years as a dedicated volunteer at both VIREB and BCREA.

Joining Mr. Stewart as Officers of the Association are President-Elect James Palanio of Chamberlain Property Group in Penticton, Past President Deanna Horn of RE/MAX Treeland Realty in Langley and Chief Executive Officer Robert Laing.

BCREA also welcomes new REALTOR® Directors Ray Harris (Port Coquitlam), Kyle Hislop (Chilliwack), Cory Raven (Vancouver) and Michael Trites (Surrey), as well as new Public Director, Mark Sakai. Returning REALTOR® Directors include Brenda Jackman (Victoria) and Gisela Janzen (100 Mile House). Public Director, Diane Dou, is also returning.

BCREA is the professional association for over 22,000 REALTORS® in BC, focusing on provincial issues that impact real estate. Working with the province's 11 real estate boards, BCREA provides continuing professional education, advocacy, economic research and standard forms to help REALTORS® provide value for their clients.

To demonstrate the profession's commitment to improving Quality of Life in BC communities, BCREA supports policies that help ensure economic vitality, provide housing opportunities, preserve the environment, protect property owners and build better communities with good schools and safe neighbourhoods.
