New BC Real Estate Association Chief Executive Officer Appointed 
Darlene K. Hyde Starts on January 22, 2018

Vancouver, BC – December 18, 2017. The British Columbia Real Estate Association (BCREA) Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Darlene K. Hyde, ICD.D, CAE has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of BCREA effective January 22, 2018.

"Darlene brings a wealth of industry and association management leadership to this role," said BCREA President Jim Stewart. "Our board is confident Darlene will ensure the Association focuses on key provincial issues that impact REALTORS® and our clients."

Most recently, she was Executive Director of the Commercial Real Estate Development Association of Metro Vancouver (NAIOP Vancouver), a post she held for the past 8 years. She has also served as Executive Vice President for the New Car Dealers Association of BC where she was part of a team that worked with the provincial government to introduce a new regulatory framework. Previously, Darlene has held senior positions in the energy, insurance, automotive retail, and telecommunications sectors across Canada.

"I'm honoured to be joining BCREA and look forward to working with our members to provide the best services we can to help REALTORS® provide value for their clients," said Darlene K. Hyde.

Darlene has exceptional experience in stakeholder and government relations, advocacy, communications, and extensive governance and regulatory experience. She currently serves on the Boards of the Motor Vehicle Sales Authority, Insurance Council of BC, and is Chair of the Board of Westminster Savings Credit Union.

Darlene earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at McGill University and her MBA at Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador.

BCREA is the professional association for over 22,000 REALTORS® in BC, focusing on provincial issues that impact real estate. Working with the province's 11 real estate boards, BCREA provides continuing professional education, advocacy, economic research and standard forms to help REALTORS® provide value for their clients.
