BCREA's Role in Real Estate Education

BCREA's Role in Real Estate Education

Applied Practice Courses
As the second educational step in the real estate licensing education process, new licencees are required to take either the Residential or Commercial Trading Services Applied Practice Course during the first six months they are licensed and must have registered for this course prior to making application for licensing.

The 30-hour courses are designed to provide practical training in real estate to new licensees which, together with the licensing course, will enable them to confidently and effectively serve the public’s real estate needs in a professional manner.

Professional Development Program (PDP)
The Professional Development Program is a continuing education program that was introduced in January 2006 by BCREA and its 11 member boards. As a condition of real estate board and association membership, REALTORS®  must complete 18 credits (about three courses) during each 24 month licence registration period.

Educators and organizations interested in having their courses PDP accredited should click here for more information.

The PDP and the Real Estate Council of BC’s Relicensing Education Program (REP) run concurrently and have the same required course. More information about REP is available by clicking here.

Continuing Professional Education (cpe)
With increasingly self-reliant consumers in today’s highly-competitive business environment, REALTORS® need a superior standard of real estate practice. BCREA responds to this need by:

  • developing relevant and practical continuing professional education (cpe) courses
  • designing comprehensive materials that serve as useful reference guides
  • using knowledgeable instructors who are well respected in the profession
  • providing opportunities to participate in fast-paced, interactive discussions

BCREA offers more than 30 courses on a wide variety of topics including agency, law, commercial, property management, technology, office management and ethics.

cpe courses are developed with REALTORS® in mind. Instructors are dynamic experts who bring their knowledge and experience to course attendees in an informative, entertaining style. The courses are fast-paced yet encourage discussion and interaction. When completing a course, REALTORS® receive a comprehensive manual to help them retain the new knowledge and skills, long after the course is over.

New licensees and seasoned pros will find that BCREA’s cpe courses enhance their professional skills and provide practical solutions for today’s most challenging issues. cpe courses are well attended and received because REALTORS® recognize how important it is to continue learning throughout their careers.

REALTORS® can contact their real estate boards for information on upcoming cpe courses in their areas.
