Jim Stewart has been a licensed REALTOR® since 1993 and is currently with 460 Realty. He served as a BCREA Director for four years and a Vancouver Island Real Estate Board (VIREB) Director for over six years, where he was also President in 2011. He has volunteered as a dedicated committee member at both VIREB and BCREA and was named REALTOR® of the year in 2006. Prior to entering the world of real estate, he held positions as both a homebuilder and finance manager.

Licensed since 2002, James Palanio is a Managing Broker with Chamberlain Property Group in Penticton. He is very involved in organized real estate provincially, which allows him to be at the cutting edge of change within the real estate profession in the province. He has served as a Director at BCREA for five years and at the South Okanagan Real Estate Board for six years, as well as serving on numerous committees.

   
Past President

Deanna Horn has been an active REALTOR® for 30 years and is an Associate Broker at RE/MAX Treeland Realty in Langley. In 2010, she was President of the Fraser Valley Real Estate Board, and has served on many of its committees. Currently Chair of the Langley Hospital Foundation, Deanna is actively involved in community groups as a volunteer.

   
Chief Executive Officer

Robert Laing joined the BCREA team in March 2000 as the Director of Government Relations, where he focused the efforts of BCREA and its Government Relations Committee to develop and maintain an effective, proactive government relations program. He became the Association’s Chief Executive Officer in 2002.

For almost 30 years, Robert has served the real estate profession in the roles of lawyer, educator and liaison to all levels of government, crown corporations and regulatory bodies. Before joining BCREA, he was head of The University of British Columbia's Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration's Real Estate Division.


REALTOR® Directors

Ray Harrisb Ray Harris has been licensed for over 33 years and is currently with RE/MAX Sabre Realty in Port Coquitlam. Ray served as a Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver Director from 2008 to 2016, where he was President in 2014 and served on multiple committees.
Kyle Hislop Kyle Hislop Kyle Hislop has been a licensed REALTOR® since 2005 and is currently the sales manager for Royal LePage Wheeler Cheam Realty. He served as a Chilliwack and District Real Estate Board Director from 2008 to 2011 and President in 2010.
Brenda Jackman has been a licensed REALTOR® for over 20 years and is currently with Coldwell Banker Slegg Realty. Before relocating to Victoria, she served on the Okanagan Mainline Real Estate Board for as a Director for several years and as President in 2010.
Gisela Janzen has been a licensed REALTOR® with Royal LePage since 1994. She has served as a Director of the BC Northern Real Estate Board (BNREB) where she was President in 2013. Gisela has volunteered on several BCNREB committees and is a current member of the Government Relations Committee.
Cory Raven Cory Raven has been licensed since 1998 and is currently the Managing Broker for RE/MAX Select Realty and Broker Owner of RE/MAX Select Realty, RE/MAX Select Properties and RE/MAX Westcoast in Greater Vancouver. Cory sits on several committees with RE/MAX and in organized real estate and is passionate about the profession.
Michael Trites Michael Trites is the Managing Broker of Royal LePage Northstar Realty in South Surrey and White Rock. Licensed since 1978, he served four years as a Director of the Fraser Valley Real Estate Board where he volunteered on numerous committees, and is presently a member of the Business Practices Committee.

Public Directors

Diane Dou has worked with HSBC Canada for 15 years in various leadership roles, and is the current Senior Executive of Retail Bank and Wealth Management. She emigrated from China in 2000 and completed her MBA at SFU in 2006.
Mark Sakai
Mark Sakai has been the Director of Government Relations for the Greater Vancouver Home Builders’ Association since 2013. He serves on the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver’s Government Relations Committee, and has worked as both a custom home builder and a real estate consultant.
