FINTRAC for REALTORS®: Understanding Canada’s Anti-Money Laundering Laws

In FINTRAC for REALTORS®: Understanding Canada’s Anti-Money Laundering Laws, Realtors will study the key elements of compliance required under the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act (PCMLTFA) and its regulations and learn their role and responsibility in meeting these legislative requirements.

By the end of this course, learners will be able to explain the importance of conducting a risk assessment; discuss how to review/monitor client risk; understand the meaning of “business relationship” and “ongoing monitoring”; know general recordkeeping requirements; describe how to verify the identity of clients (including individuals and corporations and other entities); and explain when to file reports with FINTRAC, including Suspicious Transaction Reports.

This course will help Realtors understand what is required of them by the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada (FINTRAC) in order to ensure that they comply with the law.
