The 2026 local government elections are around the corner, and housing attainability is once again top of mind for British Columbians. Local election campaigns often include all-candidates meetings, community forums, and other opportunities for voters to hear directly from candidates.

The BC Real Estate Association (BCREA) encourages both REALTORS® and the public to engage with local candidates to understand their plans to improve housing affordability in their communities. To help with this, BCREA has developed a webpage with resources for engaging with political candidates.

Click here to check it out:

On this webpage, you'll find a list of best practices for speaking to candidates, along with election briefings on two housing policy proposals intended to improve local housing delivery.

You will also find questions you can ask candidates to gauge their commitment to increasing housing attainability and supporting complete communities.
