Fundamentals of Agency
In Fundamentals of Agency, learners will gain foundational knowledge of agency in real estate and fiduciary duties REALTORS® owe to their clients. The course will discuss the legal and regulatory framework that upholds transparency and fairness in real estate transactions in British Columbia.
By the end of this course, learners will be able to gain an understanding of how the agency relationship is created, as well as define what constitutes an implied agency. A number of fiduciary duties will be covered in detail, including the duty to act in the best interest of the client, the duty to act in accordance with the lawful instructions of the client, and the duty to act only within the scope of authority given by the client. Particular attention will be paid to conflicts of interest, how to manage them and how to proactively avoid them.
Multiple case studies incorporated into the course will help learners ground theoretical knowledge in practical situations.
