Land Types: Heritage and Archaeological Sites
Land Types: Heritage and Archaeological Sites is a self-paced online course that provides specialized knowledge in the area of heritage homes and archaeologically sensitive land in British Columbia. REALTORS® will be able to define what is considered heritage, an Indigenous site, and a historic place, and differentiate between heritage designation and heritage registration. The course will focus on municipal, provincial, and federal legislation as it pertains to heritage sites. A special attention will be given to archaeological sites that may include remains of ancient villages and cemeteries, ancient stone art, and more.
By the end of this course, participants will learn the importance of legal research, coordination with municipal authorities, client education, and community engagement. The course briefly touches upon subdivisions and permits, building codes and renovations.
Through case studies, the course provides a solid foundation for REALTORS® who work with clients interested in purchasing a heritage site or archaeologically sensitive land.
