BCREA’s New Vision: Connecting Communities, Enriching Lives

November 18, 2025

BCREA has adopted a new vision statement for the years 2026 through 2028. In this video, CEO Trevor Koot explains what it means and how it could positively impact the BC housing sector.

Transcript

The BC Real Estate Association recently launched a new strategic plan for 2026 through 2028. As part of that, we created a new vision statement: “Connecting communities, enriching lives.”

You might be wondering: “So, what does that mean? And how does it relate to BC REALTORS®?”

To me, and to BCREA’s board of directors, it means a lot of things.

Traditionally, BCREA’s vision has been REALTOR® and market-housing focused. Our last vision statement was dedicated to advancing REALTOR® professionalism and ensuring the REALTOR® voice is heard, for the benefit of consumers across BC.

We’re still passionate about those things, but our new vision statement takes those ideals and moves them one step further.

As we sat down to create this new strategic plan and drilled down on what BCREA is today, it was evident that our focus is no longer exclusively on the transactional point. Instead, our voice is important across the entirety of the real estate sector.

This shows up especially in our Advocacy work, where we’re consistently engaging with all levels of government. BCREA wants a functional, equitable, and accessible housing continuum, and we push for this ideal all year round, year after year.

When we say “communities,” we don’t just mean municipalities. We mean all of the various housing stakeholders in British Columbia. That includes renters, owners, and landlords, but also housing providers, affordable housing organizations, Indigenous housing groups, and, of course, our community of REALTORS®, managing brokers, boards and associations, just to name a few.

We believe BCREA has a role in bringing those communities together – to share their ideas, and needs, and expertise – for the betterment of all.

And the idea of “enriching lives” goes beyond the bottom line for REALTORS®. It allows us to take the work that we do and think about how it affects and benefits each of those communities I just mentioned.

I’ve said it often in this video series: The pace of change in our sector isn’t slowing down, and, collectively, we need to be ready for whatever comes next.

BCREA’s vision is bold, broad, and allows us to go out into the community looking for ways to help – not just for REALTORS®, but for everyone across the housing continuum in our province.
